"You don't remember what hurt more, your head. or when you were lifted bodily from your bed and thrown into the wall. You recall laying in a broken mess on the floor, probably bleeding, while someone kept shaking you, and asking you questions. You were far too gone to answer. But try as you might to hear through the closing fog, all you can make out are the words 'the amulet, where is the amulet?' If only you knew what the men were looking for, everything would be very different."

Dammon's story begins

Dammon (Shroudson of Lanàdus) is a confused and weary traveler who is as lost in the world as he is within himself.  In early 652 DR, he found himself in Oth with only fragmented dreams to outline a mysterious past.  His companions offer him some security and the means to seek and contend with that which is missing from his life.

Dammon Shroudson remembers only fragments of his past.  His story "begins" in Oth, in Leva's Boarding House.  Here his first connected memory took place, as he was thoroughly beaten by figures looking for "the amulet".  After the thugs left, Dammon searched himself and his room but found only his clothes and his mostly empty spellbook which he gathered and took with him.  To this day, he has no idea why they came to his room, or what the amulet might be.

The sorcerer ventured south in the Spring of 653 DR both to find more about his past, and escape the dark lands where he'd spent a month in the dank dungeon of Kry Shurulm.  Deep within the mountains Tor'n Evalshat he came upon a book belonging to Grazzad of the Bragnar Bar Ort which awakened a piece of his sleeping soul.

Library

Dammon maintains a fledgling library of arcane works at his house in the Oth borough of Cenotaph.

Shroudson's Grimoire appears as a tome of poor condition with a soiled leather cover and wavy pages, warped with sea water.  (90pp, 18" x 13" x 5")  The pages of the book are covered with precise writing in a suspicious dark red medium.  The writing on all pages is written over the faintest remains of older writings long since washed or worn away.  The name "Dammon Shroudson" can be found on the inside front leaf, written in a hand not found within the tome until the last several pages.

Sadast's Spellbook is a thin medium-sized book with a heavy black leather cover.  An old metal lock holds the covers shut, but the lock has been damaged and does not work. (24pp, 15" x 14" x 1") The yellowed pages of the book are only written on one side, and evidence exists that the books have been rebound from an older tome.  The spells are written in a personal cipher based in Old Othic.

Skoru Bocor is a long (16" x 1" diam.) thin scroll written in an unsteady hand.  A woven band of leather slides off either end of the bare scroll.  The scroll unwinds several turns before the first entries.  The spells are written in an unknown cipher based in Old Othic.  Each spell entry is seperated with an ornate drawing of a man holding a skeletal fish and a lantern, encircled by the name of the following spell (in Old Othic).

Tharad'Zor's Spellbook is a folio-sized heavy tome with mildewed scale-leather covers, though many scales have worn away.  The leafs are held together with large iron hinges. (138pp, 30" x 45" x 6", 36lb)  The book is written in the Kavallun cipher, based in a strange assortment of Old Othic, Dekàlan, and Old Taládan.  The intra includes a foreword by the author Tharad'Zor (Old Othic) that explains that the "Invisible Shoulder" was found on a scroll at a Taládan marketplace that had been hidden inside a candlestick (Winter 640 DR).  The intra also mentions that the Saarul spell was found in a Cenotaph bookstore.  No mention is made of the "Portal" spell's origins.

The grimoire's appendices are journal entries; Not Draga Lor Phlogostra (Notes on the Principles of Fire), Not Phloga Talis (Notes on the Fire Talismans), Phlogostra Alchema (Scientific Experiments of Fire), and Vistal Dnur (Observations of Death).  The notes are written within the Kavallun cipher, and will give any serious researcher some valuable insight into Draga Phlogostra.  The last entries explain his loss of magic powers upon becoming a ghul, and observations of his personal transformations.

Followers

Some people's troubles ebb when they adopt followers to share their day-to-day duties.  When Dammon was adopted by the Vullinshrith Cabal his problems began anew.  The group consists of about ten members though rarely are more than six or seven present at once.  The location of missing members is never known to the other cabalists.

Over the Winter of 652 DR, Dammon spoke with members of the cabal, but his questions were stymied by blank-expressions and more than one answer of "I never really thought about it."  The peasants seemed to recall simple agrarian lives with faintly-remembered families and neighbors, but could offer no names or reasons why that might have changed.  Asked about "Vullinshrith" they would uniformly agree that it sounded very familiar, but not one could remember why.

Among the cabalists, Artana seems the most "aware" or "dependable".  Now and again she can be found sitting on the steps with her chin her hands, staring off into the distance like she's trying to remember something.  Other members seem to include: Sordun (an elder man), Kaleera (a young woman), Toswor (a young wiry man), Ellender, Ilshen, Faldir, Deyeme (who appears the least), Owor, and Melect.

Dammon has many things, much of which are kept by his 'followers' at the old House of Tharad'Zor in Cenotaph.  Aside from mundane items, he has a pair of Surran's Marvelous Boots, a pair of Boots of Zirak, a masterwork Dagger of Attrakar, the Staff of Tharad'Zor, the Ring of Grazzad, a mythrul Othic medallion, a magical bone necklace found while crossing the Tor'n Evalshat and various spellbooks (see above).
