"Too often days swiftly pass / Weeping in the evening grass / There just is not enough time / Forthings you dreamt you'd do / The hours still drift by.

"Too many years, too high a cost / Too many lessons earned but lost / And still you complain all the time / Cursing the days before you / Lamentng the days gone by.

"And finally laying in your bed / Staring skyward, nearly dead / It all floods back one last time, / The chances that you left behind / But alas there's little left to do / ... but cry."

Dirimoran song

The Colossus of Sorbur Ort
13 Maran 653 - 14 Maran 653

The group continues through the high passes of the Evalshat and find an abandoned Ortori camp marked by Plague.  A despondent barbarian hero is met.  A headless colossus tries to destroy the party but in dying reveals a passage into the Ortori caves.  The group explores the caves and kill some Ortor guards.

Almus heals group. Camp is taken-down.

Group rides into snowy reaches. Ice covered Dragon bridge is found and crossed. Mishara slips off edge and swings to wall. His horse turns off bridge and falls screaming into canyon.

Group makes camp in high pass. Soldiers report an abandoned encampment nearby. Jak and the Familiar investigate camp, find chest of carved bone flakes and old furs. Familiar finds menhir carved with "plague" symbol surronded by several radiating cairns.

Morning. Group continues down from pass into mountain canyon. Charred remains of a wagon are found and a de-meated body. Further into the camp party finds Norgus of Calsador, a fur-clad warrior of the surrounding mountain area who came to defend the caravan against the Ortori ambush but failed, having been knocked-out by the headless colossus. As the group speaks, the giant emerges slowly from its camouflage on the mountainsid. Mishara's arrows break against it. Huddrum and Gallus flee from the sight of it. Jak and Norgus charge the creature. Saldus receives a bladesharp from the young priest before moving forward. The giant picks Norgus up and stuffs him into his maw. Blood spews on those surrounding. As Saldus begins hacking at the monster's legs, Jak is lifted into the air and stuffed into its craw. More blood. Dammon and Saldus save the day with devastating attacks of lightning and sword. The colossus falls and it's half-eaten occupants climb out.

Tressta finds a cave the colossus had concealed. The cave is explored by the Familiar and then Jak. The group spends the remaining day and night in the cave. Flender is later sent into the rear pool and starts a fire in a far room. Mishara reluctantly swims through into the other side and explores forward a bit. Jak follows. A contingent moves through leaving three soldiers and the priests behind.

The group advances into the tunnels past boiling sulfur springs. Down a hewn staircase a subterranean pool is found. Down another passage a bridge is found crossing a dark river far below. Further along the staircase they happen across an Ortori outpost and are attacked. The arrested soldier Huddrum (who was forced to take point) is killed almost instantly by a broadsword cut through his leg. Jak spears Ortor as they advance and Norgus pushes forward to join the fray. Mishara spies an Ortor fleeing up a back passage and rushes to stop him but cannot track the Ortor through the darkened caves. Upon returning to the room he finds Norgus and Jak standing over Ortori bodies, their shoes and armor bathed in dark blood.
