Book of the Shul
[earth / spirit]
The Shul have always been
represented in legend as guardian ambassadors of nature, sometimes referred
to as the Müta, the cohorts of Woad.
It is unknown whether there is a common origin of the Shul for their
appearance varies greatly from place to place. In northern Terèthor
the Shulut-kurv (half deer) roam the
plains and forests. In the Vast
Untamed the Shul'an-faan (half
panther) stalk the dark jungles. The variety of their forms have led
many to believe that the Shul are Chaosborn,
but this is not accurate. The Chaosborn are believed to have been
created by warps in Chaos, usually resulting
from decaying magic, while the Shul are believed to have been created "purposefully"
by divine (or at least advanced) powers.
Physiology: Most Shul have the lower body of
a local animal with the shoulders forward replaced with a hominid torso.
Although the majoity of Shul have animal heads (Shulut),
they have the facility to speak with all the ability of a hominid. Shul
with hominid heads are Shul'an.
