"Too often days swiftly pass / Weeping in the evening grass / There just is not enough time / Forthings you dreamt you'd do / The hours still drift by.

"Too many years, too high a cost / Too many lessons earned but lost / And still you complain all the time / Cursing the days before you / Lamentng the days gone by.

"And finally laying in your bed / Staring skyward, nearly dead / It all floods back one last time, / The chances that you left behind / But alas there's little left to do / ... but cry."

The Hall of Sorrows
2 Lanal 652

The priestess of Draun confronts an unhospitable guildmaster with the help of a long dead friend.  A meeting is planned to discuss the reorganization and re-education of the Guild of Mourners.

Alcerra and Jak, accompanied by two Temple apprentices pushed through the crowds of Temple Square toward the Hall of Sorrows, the guildhouse of the Mourners' Guild.  Ossis, a huge long-limbed man-creature, led him into the stacks of a sealed storage room and handed him the box of that family. When Jak opened the box it exploded, nearly killing him. He was able to find a few fragments of paper that had been the box's contents but most everything was destroyed in the blast. Alcerra was taken to the Guildmaster Nejredar Clamandel who was not very receptive, insisting at first that she was mocking him with her presence, and that Draun was not only the God of the Dead, but also a dead god. In short order the priestess was able to convince him otherwise and they arranged a meeting with other guild leaders for the month's end.

After leaving the guildhouse Alcerra returned to the graveyard and summoned a skeleton forward from a tomb there. The guildmaster had asked for a display of her power, and she resolved to give him "a sign". The skeleton marched into Temple Square, terrorifying the passerbys, it entered the guildhouse to the hosts' collective dismay, and marched up to the Guildmaster's office. Cornering the horrified man, the skeleton drew Draun's symbol in the dust, and collapsed into a pile of bones. Thereafter, Jak and Alcerra returned to the Temple, in the rain, followed by two very frightened apprentices of Roth.
