"Too often days swiftly pass / Weeping in the evening grass / There just is not enough time / Forthings you dreamt you'd do / The hours still drift by.

"Too many years, too high a cost / Too many lessons earned but lost / And still you complain all the time / Cursing the days before you / Lamentng the days gone by.

"And finally laying in your bed / Staring skyward, nearly dead / It all floods back one last time, / The chances that you left behind / But alas there's little left to do / ... but cry."

Dirimoran song

Rime of the Animator
2 Lanal 652 - 3 Lanal 652

The priestess of Draun confronts an unhospitable guildmaster with the help of a long dead friend.  A meeting is planned to discuss the reorganization and re-education of the Guild of Mourners.

It started with what was probably a dream. The empty rooms and the small folded signs, saying "You're not welcome." More hallways. More rooms. After a time it was hard to say whether Dammon was looking for a way back, or out of this place.

Then there was the rainy street. It was night and a the wagon creaked heavily through the street, carrying strange cargo toward the square. Dammon filed behind, unnoticed.

Then there was the music. The chanting.  When the wagon was taken into a secured courtyard and warehouse, he ventured around. Dropping over the wall into the fog shrouded yard he climbed to a window to see inside. Strange shapes turned. He didn't count the robed chanters. He couldn't make out their words. Then he was on his back. Staring up at the rain. He had fallen and guards had gathered around. There was an office and someone there, but even in this lucent moment the memories slip away.

Then, again the street and the circlet of the silver. Time to go home. The rest is clear, but no less strange. Mot and Drug are gone. Seems they left in a hurry. The voice returned this late night and explained a thing or two. It's nice having answers. Now, all Dammon needs to know is what the answers mean. How long has he been wearing this damned circlet?
