whet the appetite of the curious and cultivate an appreciation
for the vastness of knowledge which may forever lie
unknown. This selection is far from complete.
If you wish to see more, please stop the librarian

Book of Architecture ) A book of articles detailing
the differences in construction and building used by
the myriad people of the World of Teréth End.
From the round towered keeps of the Dwürden
to the onion-shaped shrines of dreaming Sudul, this
book attempts to describe and explain the differences
and significance of buildings throughout the world.
Relavent information for students of architecture
may also be found in the Book
of Art.

( Book of Art
) The art of Teréth End ranges from
primitive Dwürden sculptures, to the million tesserae
wall mosaics of north Maradoo. In a world with
so many diverse races and people the variation of artistic
expression is unavoidable. Included in this book
are articles on artistic styles, tools, and famous artists
from major cultures through history. Also included
are some descriptions of masterpieces from the five
continents.

( Book
of Astronomy ) This book details world views regarding
the shape and principles of the Zarátam
(universe). Articles explain Teréth End's
relationship with surrounding heavenly bodies (moons,
stars, comets). Details on the world itself can
be found in the Gazetteer.

of Costumes ) A book explaining the different
clothes and fashions used in different kingdoms and
cultures and their evolution through the centuries.
This book describes the different materials and
furs used by different cultures, and their importance
(i.e. usury laws). Also described are the different
styles of clothing used by different cultures and races
by climate.

( Book of Drugs
) This book contains articles detailing the use
and cultivation of drugs from each of the five continents
and the seas. An exhaustive list of popular ales,
wines, and other alcoholic drinks from major kingdoms
is also included. Although many drugs can be used
as poisons, those brewed or cultivated specifically
for that purpose are found in the Book
of Poisons.

) A collection of articles regarding trees, shrubs,
fungi and flowers unique to the World of Teréth
End are detailed and illustrated in this book. The
book also explains how many of these plants are used
by different cultures (see Drugs
and Poisons) as well
as how they are cultivated. Mostly, this book
is a reference guide for adventurers wishing to find
useful information from "foraging" and "wilderness
lore" skill checks.

( Book of Games ) A dissertation on games
of chance and contests of skill from mundane plaque-and-coin
games to grand tournaments fought to entertain the blood-thirsty
masses. Games have a long history in most cultures.
This book seeks to detail a few for which the
rules are still known and describe a few others for
which the only rules are "kill or be killed".

) From the great gems that litter the treasures
of empires to the sub-surface quartz that breaks spring
plows, this book covers gems of all sizes, colors and
values. For millennia, gems and precious stones
have captured the hearts of adventurers, arcanists and
collectors alike; here are listed the stones available
to the poor and most wealthy inhabitants of Teréth
End. Included also are some short articles describing
some of the most famous stones.

Heraldry ) An article explaning the history
of heraldry and an index of heraldric devices and their
meanings. Originally a system for determining
others on the field of battle, heraldry has evolved
in many regions into an arcane art form which can tell
detailed life stories, both the triumphs and failures,
to the trained observer. With the great importance
of each symbol, color and position on a shield, it is
well recommended that a herald be employed to design
one's achievement.

as possible. Additionally, dates herein are represented

with etymological flowcharts detailing the evolution
of language through the ages. The diversity of
race, region and cultures within Teréth End contribute
to a very complex and inter-related genealogy of languages,
dialects and scripts. Over the centuries and millennia
many languages have grown away from their origins, due
to either isolation or influence from other cultures
and people. This book attempts to detail the progression
and relationships of this hopelessly interwoven history.

souls of many civilizations are kept in the stories
and books written by its people. This book contains
overviews of some of the more famous tellings written
over the many years since the Lyrasti first etched words
on tablets. Included in this section are an index

the world of Teréth End. Also described
are some of the more famous and prolific writers that
world owes thanks for their lifes' contributions.

styles and instruments used throughout the world. Also
included are articles describing famous musical pieces
and performances that have served both to delight and
relate history to listeners and observers alike. Described

of Teréth End, from royally commissioned composers

to survive.

philosophers and scholarly organizations are also detailed

through the World of Teréth End.

like no other invention since the wheel. This

world. Some articles will detail the sea-going
explorers themselves, their histories and contributions.

Weather ) Herein you will find charts detailing
everything from an autumn morning's brisk wind, a soothing
spring shower, to the remotely possible apocalyptic
Unravelling; weather effects and phenomena (and their
likelihood) are described in detail within this book.
Also included are descriptions of the effects
for extreme meteorological events such as Rending Winds
and Chaos Storms. Scholars of these phenomena
are well aware that the stones of Teréth End
are not as ungiving as people would believe.
