"A song in your heart
A story to share
A dance trapped inside
An inexpressible vision
An insatiable soul
May lead you here."

Book of Drugs
Somewhere along the eternal seach for food, medicine,
and entertainment, plants and other substances have been found to
serve as drugs. The world of herbalism is an esoteric one, spent walking
hunched through the undergrowth examining leaf serrations or analyzing
spore prints left on vellum tags. Another side exists beyond this
drudgery, a side that is lucrative, rewarding, and in high demand
in almost every culture across the face of Teréth End.
Those that care to categorize and file nature's produce
separate drugs into several classifications including but not limited
to: etheria, excitatia, imaginia, melancholia, and soporforia.
Etheria
Etheria includes narcotics, painkillers, and mild-hallucinogens.
Luvel.
Serül.
Excitatia
Excitatia includes most stimulant drugs.
Is'id. A dark blue
leafed bush that grows wild along the northern coasts of the Dreamlands.
In the late spring is'id produces tiny yellow flowers with a
honey taste. Harvesters however are only interested in the broad
Is'id leaves, which are dried and ground into a coarse powder. The
is'id powder is moistened with ag'eri and sold in small lumps which
can be smoked or burned like incense cones. Most people do not
enjoy the jittery high received from is'id. Is'id is highly
addictive. D&D: To
fight the effects of inhaled is'id one must save vs Fortitude (DC
22). Effects for inhaled is'id last 5d4 minutes. Characters
under the influence of is'id are reduced Int -2, Wis -4, Dex +2, Ref
+2. Following these effects the character makes another save
vs Fortitude (DC 10 + amount first save was missed by +1 for each
additonal time used) to avoid addiction (remember this number, see
below). Addicted characters seek 1d4 fixes of is'id per day.
Those who cannot meet their fix suffer Int -2, Wis -4, Dex -2,
Ref -2, Will -2 until their fix is met. A fix that is not met
for 10 days is beaten. A character that has beaten the fix but
is exposed to the smell of is'id again must save vs Fortitude at the
last level she saved versus before or become addicted again. Find:
Knowledge (Nature) DC 20 in north coastal Dreamlands. Cost:
1 Aurala per smoke, available in Jadth year round.
Imaginia
Imaginia includes psychoactive drugs like hallucinogens.
Eçaba. Hallucinogenic
blue stemmed flower with white petals found in the Dreamlands. The
flower is milked and poured on pipeweed or sipped directly from the
stem bulb. The high received by smoking the milk is similar,
but ingested eçaba lasts half again as long. Eçaba
is non-addictive. D&D:
To fight the effects of smoked eçaba one must save vs
Fortitude (DC 20) to avoid the effects of smoking, (DC 15) if secondary
(half-duration). To fight the effects of sipped eçaba
one must save vs Fortitude (DC 24). Effects for smoked eçaba
last 2d2 hours (3d2 for sipped). Characters under the influence
of eçaba are reduced Int -4, Wis -4, Dex -4, Will -4 for the
duration. Following these effects, the character remains at
half penalties until 24 hours passes, or 8 hours of rest. The
most memorable effect of eçaba is the limited telepathic "awakening"
that occurs when sipped. Smokers are able to faintly hear others
within 40' that are also influenced by eçaba, while sippers
are able to whisper and talk (mostly non-sensically) across the shared
telepathic link. Find: Knowledge (Nature) DC 23
in Dreamlands. Cost: 3 Aurala per flower, found
during early-spring and fall in bunches of 1d3.
Vit'esh.
Melancholia
Melancholia includes depressants.
Ham'a.
Haralith.
Soporforia
Soporforia includes suppressants and sedatives.
Daça. A popular
smoking weed in Jadth, used to mellow the nerves and enjoy the quiet. The
drug is smoked in small bowls. Daça grows wild in the
Dreamlands but the blue Daça is known to be the highest quality,
and that only grows at the foot of the mountains far to the north
and east. Not much Daça grows near to Jadth anymore as
it is continually harvested by city children who daily are sent into
the jungles to retrieve the plant and bring home a few extra Dthala
a day. D&D: Daça
is mildly addictive (DC 10) but luckily for those who are hooked it
is a pleasant and relative cheap drug.
