"Too often days swiftly pass / Weeping in the evening grass / There just is not enough time / Forthings you dreamt you'd do / The hours still drift by.

"Too many years, too high a cost / Too many lessons earned but lost / And still you complain all the time / Cursing the days before you / Lamentng the days gone by.

"And finally laying in your bed / Staring skyward, nearly dead / It all floods back one last time, / The chances that you left behind / But alas there's little left to do / ... but cry."

Equipment & Money > Apothecary

Overview

The apothecary serves many functions throughout the Old Empire.  At his shop, the apothecarist prepares and sells herbs and poultices for those able to browse his wares.  For those unable to reach the apothecary, the apothecarist visits the sick and prescribes medicine and care.  In addition to doctoral duties, the apothecarist may also serve as an arcanist in communities that cannot support specialists.

Herbs & Flowers

The following lists of flowers, herbs and roots are provided to give a general overview of the medicines available to an Old Empire apothecarist.  This list is not meant to be complete, nor could it be.  Each herb is given a name (for identification), a season (Spring (a), Summer (b), Autumn (c), Winter (d) and All (e)), a DC rating for finding it in the wild (add +5 or +10 for each step out-of-season), the store cost (for a dose), a brief desciption of the herb, a brief description of its preparation and use, locations where it can be found and other details (described below).  Finding these items in the wild requires a Knowledge (Nature) skill check.  Five ranks of the Survival skill grant a synergy bonus to this check (rf. PHB35p84).
