Kaithah (of the Argental) is buried
within the Living Mound deep in the Silverwood. Slain
in battle against Saranthi pilgrims at Eagulthar's Rest,
her companions carried her home to be buried in the custom
of her people. A Halveral bard, Kaithah was an accomplished
musician. Her greatest work was a flawless performance
of the elfin piece "Four Seasons" by Oberyl. Her
playing of the ancient work summoned hundreds of winter Faeri
into the halls of Kry Shurulm.
Kaithah lived in the forested Fractured Hills
with her family for most of her life, some distance from
the elfin community where her mother was born. Her father
called a northern human city home, though rarely visited,
and refused to take his family when he did. She does not
remember meeting any relatives, and as she grew older, realized
that her parents were outcasts from their respective communities;
but valued their isolation.
Kaithah is secretive but optimistic, charming,
quick and can speak several languages taught her by her mother.
She learned some combat skills from her father, a hunter
and tracker. She is artistic and is an excellent seamstress.
She can embroider fine, intricate designs and often embellishes
much of her own clothing. Kaithah loves listening to, retelling,
and creating stories. She can play the reed flute quite pleasantly
and can often be found experimenting with new songs and tunes.
Kaithah came to Oth for work, money, and
experience. She wished to expand her talents, and knew that
she must meet, hear, and learn from other musicians. She
was confident in her abilities and figured that most people
in Oth were probably in need of someone to provide some entertainment,
music, and take their minds' off their troubles. The stories
her father told of the City were forbidding, but she went
just the same, feeling stifled in the remote forest and hills.
Her parents gave her some money to make her journey easier,
most of which was gone within days of reaching Oth.
If she could stand without wincing she might
have a nice smile. Perhaps it would be better to just listen
to her play. Kaithah has taken the grand tour of Oth and
found both friends and enemies in all its dark corners. Teamed
now with a new group of friends, she has traveled deep into
the forbidding Northwoods, and survived many obstacles: an
attacking owlbear, scaling the high crumbling walls of an
ancient keep, risking her life to help in a companion's quest
where one slip of her fingers could have meant her death,
and nearly drowning in the harsh cross-tides of a rocky harbor. |
